The South Wye Regeneration Partnership has been successful in getting £4.3
million funding from Central Government's Single Regeneration Budget as part
of a £13 million programme of regeneration activity to take place in South
Wye over seven years, ending March 2006. The South Wye Regeneration Partnership
is made up of representatives from the community, voluntary, private and public
sectors, who have come together to work towards improving opportunities for
people in South Wye. It became a registered company in June 2001.
The Partnership is now into its sixth year of the SRB scheme, supporting
locally based projects which will improve the quality of
life of South Wye residents and employees. As you will see
from the details of the projects, they are
many and varied. The majority of projects are about working
with residents and the local community to achieve their own
goals, whether it be in health, education, employment or
leisure. Others are about improving the local environment
or providing assistance to local businesses. The Partnership
is keen to support the development of community facilities
in the area, and has played a key part in the joint use facility
at Hunderton Junior School and the proposed Hinton Community
Centre. There is more and more going on in South Wye and many residents
are able to find out more through the South Wye News and the new Community
Noticeboards. We hope people are beginning to notice all the activity
which is going on although there is still much to do.
